Big environmental solutions in the Big Easy: Motor Coach Industries introduces
next-generation CNG, Clean-Diesel Commuter Coaches, showcases corporate-
configured J4500; Stop by Booth 1333 to relax and learn
SCHAUMBURG, IL — August 30, 2011 — Motor Coach Industries' Booth 1333 at APTA EXPO 2011 will be the destination for transit officials and operators who want to offer commuters the best in technology, environmental performance, comfort and safety.
It'll be a beautiful place to take a break, too.
Designed with the look and feel of a New Orleans park, MCI's space at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center will be the place to be to mark the 30th anniversary of American Public Transportation Association APTA EXPO, public transportation's premier showcase of equipment, technology and new ideas. The EXPO will run October 3-5, concurrent with the APTA annual meeting October 2-5.
"MCI was a founding exhibitor at this show back in 1981, and we're very proud to return this year with some very interesting new products and technologies," said Tom Wagner, Director of Business Development for MCI Public Sector. "Its a particularly fascinating time in public transit — ridership is growing, and a new generation of commuters have high expectations for comfort, safety and a concern for the environment. MCI is in a unique place to provide the best solutions for this growing market."
Here's what you'll find at MCI during APTA EXPO' 11:
MCI will display three models: two Commuter Coaches in clean-diesel and compressed natural gas (CNG) configurations, and the industry's best-selling coach; the MCI® J4500 in a corporate commuter design. One of the coaches on display is on its way to the Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT), which recently announced its first-ever MCI order for 84 CNG powered, 40-foot Commuter Coaches.
Exceeding top standards for reliability, comfort and durability, the MCI Commuter Coach is Buy America-compliant, Altoona tested and available in clean-diesel, Hybrid or CNG. APTA EXPO attendees can test firsthand the new ACTIA multiplex system, a 4th generation state-of-the-art multiplex diagnostics system, now standard in every Commuter Coach. The model also includes a new ergonomically designed driver dash with rocker switches and gauges illuminated by LEDs for easy viewing. Other options on display include three-point passenger seatbelts, wheelchair lift (with up to two wheelchair positions), Wi-Fi and 110-volt outlets.
Many leading-edge private employers have discovered that offering employee commuter transportation service makes for a happier workforce — with the added benefit of being more environmentally friendly. MCI will display a major U.S. company's specially fitted J4500 as an example of how employers can use both public and private mass transportation systems as a way to attract workers, build productivity and enhance an environmental reputation. After all, every motor coach takes 57 cars off the road. This particular coach is state-of-the-art with luxury accommodations to match — spiral step entryway, leather seating, power outlets at every seat and wireless connections that keep employees productive on their long commutes.
As mentioned, MCI's space is designed to look like a charming New Orleans park. But don't let the relaxing environment fool you; this is a place to learn, too. MCI's expert parts and service team will be on hand for a special series of seminars to bring you up to speed on MCI's new ACTIA system, powertrain options, safety systems, parts specials and more.
Top company executives will be on hand to listen to comments and questions about MCI products and services.
Be at MCI's booth on Monday, October 3, 1:00 p.m. for a special presentation honoring two industry leaders.
Every three years, the American Public Transportation Association's APTA EXPO attracts more than 17,000 attendees from around the United States and many parts of the globe. They come to see the latest equipment, learn about industry trends and see what's coming next in legislative and legal developments in public transit.
